Massage Modalities

Therapeutic/Medical Massage

This modality includes a combination of the techniques below. Sports and stretching techniques may be included in your session as well as essential oils- based on what your needs are. Here is a further definition of some of these techniques.

DoTERRA Essential Oils (Aromatherapy):  The use of oils (extracted from herbs, flowers, resin, woods, and roots) in body and skin care treatments is known as Aromatherapy. Essential oils can help aid in relaxation, improve circulation, and help the healing of wounds. Each oil has it's own unique characteristics or properties, and the common ways essential oils are used are; Topically- on the skin usually blended with a carrier oil, Inhalation- through a diffuser, and taken Internally.

Deep Tissue Massage:  A technique that focuses primarily on the deeper layers of muscles and the fascia. Sometimes this technique involves the therapist using firmer pressure in order to reach these key areas and get them to release, that is why this particular massage is oftentimes recommended for people who are comfortable with a slightly more intense touch. However, deep tissue massage can also refer to gentle yet sustained pressure targeting the myofascial (muscle and connective tissue) layer.  The belief that deep pressure equals pain is a myth; however, the benefits of deep tissue massage are beyond question.

Myofascial Release:  Similar to Deep Tissue massage, This technique uses a steady constant pressure to work through restricted areas in the soft tissues and fascia of the body. Myofascial release is effective in alleviating pain and creating healthy changes in the muscles and connective tissue in the body. Fascia refers to a type of connective tissue that encases each individual structure of the body.

Swedish Massage:  This is the most common form of massage in the United States. It involves longer strokes to soothe and relax, combining kneading pressure in a rhythm that relaxes the mind and body. Gentle stretches can be applied and this massage, although common, is versatile to each therapist.

" I have spent a lot of money at big chain massage places, but generally came away feeling like someone had just rubbed on me for an hour, and like they were just waiting for their lunch break. Jamie is the anthisis of this. We start with her asking what I am looking for this time, and how I am feeling. We talk a bit about my current needs, and then Jamie not only focuses on what I said, but on what my body tells her as well.  She hones in on exactly what I need, (sometimes I didn't even know I needed it!) and I without fail come away feeling fully revived physically and mentally." –L.R

"Jamie shared her massage expertise with me for almost a decade, and through that time I always marveled that she always was so in tune to what was going on with me…whether it was physically or emotionally and how that manifested with my body. She’s just amazingly aware! Listen to Jamie’s instincts…she’s always spot on!" –P.P
